THE DOMAIN
Domaine “Lou Fréjau” was created in 1982 by Christiane Chastan, oenology laboratory assistant, granddaughter of italian winegrowers and Serge Chastan,freshly graduated from Lycée Viticole d’Orange, also grandson of winegrower.The acquisition of a small farm in the Châteauneuf Du Pape vineyard built in rolled pebbles (“Fréjau” in local language) will give its name at the family estate.
ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY WORK
All our wines have been officially labeled “Organic Agriculture” since 2010. It was simply an administrative formality. We made the bet since several generations,that the respect for biodiversity would be the only way for us to work our landand stay in harmony with our values.
THE VINEYARD: A TERROIR OF GREAT WINES OF FRANCE
Domaine “Lou Fréjau” is divided into three prestigious Appellations. First, the AOP Côtes-Du-Rhône with its rich and green plains. Then, there is the AOP Côtes-Du-Rhône Villages, superior wine of the Rhône valley and finally,our great wines from the AOP Châteauneuf-Du-Pape on stony and clay-limestone grounds. We have the privilege of perpetuating an ancestral heritage in this fascinating land.
OUR WINES: THE FRUIT OF OUR PRODUCTION
A daily requirement combined with a know-how bequeathed by our ancestors;this is the recipe for the wines of the “Lou Fréjau” estate. Traditional vinification for our red wines, long vatting with aging in tuns and oak barrels. More modern technical for our white and rosé wines with vinification in stainless steel vats at low temperature and rapid bottling.
