The Vineyard

Our vineyard is located in the north of the Châteauneuf Du Pape appellation, between Orange and Courthézon. It is undergoing an important transformation as the 18 Hectares which constituted it will be divided into two equal parts so that brother and sister can invest in a new adventure.

The “Lou Frejau” estate will then be smaller in size but will continue to be great in its history.

The AOC Côtes du Rhône constitutes the first part of it, on poor and sandy soils which gives a great finesse to our red Côtes Du Rhône, and a delicacy to our white and rosé Côtes Du Rhône. The vines are less than 20 years old and the ampelographic diversity allows us to produce “pleasurable wines” capable of charming the greatest number of people.

We also have a part of the vineyard established in AOC Côtes du Rhône Villages, superior AOC of the Côtes du Rhône. A stony soil, a clayey ground and a carefullythought-out grape variety gives us the possibility to create an elegant and delicate red wine.

The other part of our land in the prestigious Châteauneuf Du Pape appellation, is classified as one of the most prestigious in France. It should be noted that this was the first AOC created in our country in 1923 by Baron Le Roy Boiseaumarié. A clay-limestone soil flooded with pebbles, bathed in sunshine and swept by the Mistral, the northern wind that provides us with hot, dry weather conducive to the development of robust and lush vines.

The symphony of these 13 grape varieties, the strict regulations including manual harvesting and compulsory sorting of the grapes give this wine a great nobility and an unequalled aromatic complexity.

Meat and vegetables are only the substance,
wine is the intellectual part of a meal
